Within the framework of the technical cooperation programme between the IAEA and ROSATOM, by the request of ROSATOM Department of International Cooperation a two-week scientific visit of Mr Sameh Melhem – a specialist of the Jordan Atomic Energy Commission- was organized in ROSATOM-CICE&T.
The objective of the visit was to study the basic principles of passive safety systems of AES-92 project, which is supposed to be realized in Jordan. Basics of the AES-92 project was provided by the experts from JSC “SSC RF – IPPE”, ОКB “GIDROPRESS” and ROSATOM-CICE&T.
Within the framework of the visit Mr S. Melhem participated in the 10-th International Conference “Safety Assurance of NPP with VVER” organized by ОКB “GIDROPRESS”.
Special session was implemented to study Russian computer code “KORSAR”, which was developed in FSUE “Scientific Research Institute of Technology named after A.P. Aleksandrov” and to discuss the code’s capabilities in conducting simulation of the neutronic and thermal-hydraulic processes in the elements of passive safety systems of nuclear facilities.
The implementation of this visit was an important step in establishing the mechanism of support in capacity building for nuclear infrastructure development for Jordanian nuclear power programme.
