ROSATOM CICE&T starts cooperation with Nigerian nuclear stakeholders.

On December 5  the representatives of Nigerian nuclear Stakeholders Mr. KUYE Ayoade Oludayo  (Centre for Nuclear Energy Studies, University of Port Harcourt,) and Mr. DIM Lawrence Anikwe  (Centre for Energy Research and Training, Ahmadu Bello University) had a meeting with the ROSATOM CICE&T officials to discuss the possible ways of cooperation based on the ROSATOM CICE&T experience in providing trainings for specialists of national nuclear infrastructures for the countries embarking on nuclear power programmes. Assembly held in Arusha,  Tanzania 26-31 August, 2013 where Nigerian and Russian specialists participated in the Cluster Analysis Workshop  to identify the training offers and demands in the area of nuclear science and technology.  That time five areas of cluster analysis were considered for each the IAEA selected expert was assigned to facilitate process:

  • Quality Education &Training (QET) (Mr. V.Artisyuk, Russian Federation)
  • Technology (Mr.N. Reguigui, Tunisia)
  • Capacity building (J.K.Lee, IAEA)
  • Outreach (J. Roberts, UK)
  • Sustainability (S.Morgan, IAEA)

 

QET analysis was performed based on the data collected from the participants who submitted in a written form needs and offers in the area of QET (stickers  of different colours as shown in the picture) . Formulation of needs and offers was done in arbitrary form and the job-task for the experts was to analyze the data. The analysis of data collected in the Cluster analysis 1,2 reveals strong interest to nuclear power option from Kenya and Nigeria.

Nigerian guests were shown the recently developed training materials and English speaking training staff explained them the details of their educational and professional background.
